Journal Club Avril 2020

I have added a section on Covid-19 as it is important to keep up-to-date with the published literature. I have not included all articles that have been published, but have ‘restricted’ the selection to the pediatric population.

In the part with the review articles, you can read interesting manuscripts on: abusive head trauma, obesity treatment, neonatal sepsis and NEC, timeline on radiologic healing of fractures, PID…

Dans la partie consacrée aux études originales, vous trouverez peut-être la réponse aux questions suivantes :

  • What are the maturational changes of the esophagus in preterm infants?
  • What is pentoxifyllin and why would neonatologists start to use it?
  • Do we need to fear NEC in infants with congenital heart disease?
  • Can melatonin be used as sedative in newborns and can it be used post-concussion?
  • Do children with a solitary kidney have a higher risk of hypertension?
  • Is it useful to have a parental questionnaire to detect seizures in high-risk children?
  • Does migraine change during puberty?
  • Does a lack of fibre cause childhood constipation?
  • Is pyelonephritis possible in children who display neither pyuria nor bacteriuria?
  • Is a short-course of antibiotics useful for chemotherapy-induced febrile neutropaenia?
  • Are proton pump inhibitors associated with an increased risk of fractures?
  • Is there too much neonatal testing in infants with maternal thyroid disease?
  • Are maternal autoimmune disorders associated with Kawasaki disease in young children?
